The breath you take

You know I have always loved country music and i have come to realize that as a mother i love it even more.  I find a deeper meaning in the songs and I find myself relating more to the music.  My own mother pointed this song out to me recently and it makes me think of Skyla and all the things that she is going to do in this life or hers and how no matter what i will always be there for her, no matter what I have to do that is one promise I will always have for her. NO MATTER WHAT HER MOMMY WILL ALWAYS BE THERE.  The reason I feel this is so important is because I have witnessed parents not being there for their children and it breaks my heart.  In life there should always be at least two people that you can count on NO MATTER WHAT and I have realized that not everyone is lucky enough to have that in there lifes like I have.  My parents did anything and everything for me and they always encouraged me to do anything and everything in life that makes me happy and I thank them for that for they have made me the woman, wife, friend and mother that i am today.  THANK YOU MOM AND DAD.

George Strait "The breath you take"
He looks up from second base dad’s up in the stands
He saw the hit, the run, the slide there ain’t no bigger fan
In the parking lot after the game he said
“Dad I thought you had a plane to catch”
He smiled and said “Yeah son I did”

Life’s not the breaths you take
The breathing in and out
That gets you through the day
Ain’t what it’s all about
Ya just might miss the point
Try’n to win the race
Life’s not the breaths you take
But the moments that take your breath away

Fast forward fifteen years
And a thousand miles away
Boy’s built a life he’s got a wife
And a baby due today
He hears a voice saying “I made it son
He said “I told you dad you didn’t have to come”
He smiles and says ”Yeah I know you did”

Life’s not the breaths you take
The breathing in and out
That gets you through the day
Ain’t what it’s all about
Ya just might miss the point
Try’n to win the race
Life’s not the breaths you take
But the moments that take your breath away

Just like it took my breath when she was born
Just like it took my breath away when dad took his last that morn

Life’s not the breaths you take
The breathing in and out
That gets you through the day
Ain’t what it’s all about
Ya just might miss the point
If ya don’t slow down the pace
Life’s not the breaths you take
But the moments that take your breath away.

  1. I totally agree. Country music has always been a favorite of mine too but once I became a mom it was so much deeper, and often makes me tear up ;). I also think about kids who don't know the love that mine do and it makes me so sad. Skyla is lucky to have you guys as her parents, just as you guys are to have her. So happy for you.
